A candidate for direct recruitment to the position of Staff Nurse (Male) must have the following qualifications:
  1. Have passed the High School Examination with Science and the Intermediate Examination of the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh, or an examination recognised by the Government as equivalent.
  2. Have a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or a B.Sc Degree in Nursing that is registrable with the Uttar Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council, or have a diploma in Psychiatry that is registrable with the Uttar Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council.
  3. Possess a registration certificate from the Uttar Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council as a Nurse and Psychiatrist or a registration certificate as a Nurse and Midwife. From the Upper Peninsula Nurses and Midwives Council.

For male nurses, a diploma in general nursing and midwifery from a recognised institute or an equivalent qualification is required. Preference will be given to those with three years of experience in a large hospital, a medical college, or a B.Sc. in nursing. Male nurses must be registered "A" Grade Nurses and Midwives with a State Nursing Council or equivalent qualification.
