The SCI – Supreme Court of India is the country’s top judicial body and the Republic of India’s highest court, according to the constitution.

It is the highest superior court of Record and has the power of judicial review.

The Supreme Court of India, which has a maximum of 34 judges. And vast powers in the form of original, appellate, and advisory jurisdictions, is led by the Chief Justice of India.

As India’s supreme’s constitutional court, it hears appeals mostly from high courts in various states of the Union, as well as other courts and tribunals.

It is responsible for protecting citizens’ fundamental rights and resolving conflicts between various government authorities. Such as the central government vs. state governments or state governments vs. another state government in the country.

As an advisory court, it considers cases that the president of India may refer to it directly under the Constitution.

The Supreme Court’s decision is binding on all Indian courts, as well as the federal and state governments.

The president of India has the responsibility of enforcing the Supreme Court’s decisions, and the court has inherent authority to issue any order deemed appropriate in the interests of justice.

Eligibility of a judge of the Supreme Court of India

A citizen of India under the age of 65, as defined by Article 124 of the Constitution, who has:

• a judge of one or more high courts (consistently) for at least five years
• For at least ten years, I was an advocate there.
• power provided by clause 2 of article 124 of the Indian Constitution on a prominent jurist, in the opinion of the president

is qualified to be nominated for appointment as a Supreme Court judge.
