Chhattisgarh is a landlocked, highly wooded state in the Central Indian area. After previously being a part of Madhya Pradesh, it was given statehood on November 1, 2000. With an area of 135,192 square kilometres, it is India’s ninth-largest state (52,198 sq mi). It has a population of around 30 million (3 crores) as of 2021, making it the country’s 17th most populous state.
Ten Chhattisgarhi and six Gondi-speaking districts in Madhya Pradesh were split to form the state. Raipur is the country’s capital. It is bordered on the north by Uttar Pradesh, the northwest by Madhya Pradesh, the southwest by Maharashtra, the northeast by Jharkhand, the east by Odisha, and the south by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It currently consists of 32 districts.
Chhattisgarh is one of India’s fastest-growing states. Its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is Rs.3.63 lakh crore (US$48 billion), with a GSDP of Rs.102,762 (US$1,300) per capita. Chhattisgarh is a resource-rich state that supplies the rest of the country with energy, coal, and steel.
Following the ‘Swachh Survekshan 2020,’ it was once again named the cleanest state in 2020, with more than 100 Urban Local Bodies, as declared by Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri.
